It was set up in 1932 as Moscow Institute of Economic Accounting, in 1945 as Moscow Institute of Economics and Statistics (MESI), in 1996 it became Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics. 65 years’ experience of scientific and pedagogical activity as well as permanent orientation of the teaching process to the real needs of economics allowed MESI to become an acknowledged leader in training of specialists in the field of business and information technologies, economics, management application, computer science. Scientific potential of the university has been formed during many years of its history linked with the development of Russian scientific schools, the use of mathematical methods and computers in economics.
